In order to know each other more, the Oulami members organised a welcoming party at the beginning of the semester.
We met in the Oulami room at Myongji University before going to eat in a restaurant. Nearly all the international students were there.
We headed to a restaurant where we eat traditional korean barbecue, called 삼겹살 (Samgyeopsal) in korean. It consists in pork belly grilled on a grill on the table. It is usually served with onions, the traditional kimchi (김치), garlic, ssamjang (쌈장) and lettuce to wrap it in. For people who could not eat pork, Oulami had prepared chicken.
During the dinner, Oulami members and international students were mixed together, there was at least one Oulami at each table. We had a lot of fun meeting new people and eating together. It was a good way to experience Korean culture, for a lot of people, it was their first time experiencing Korean food and Korean culture.
